A naked baby, barely able to walk, becomes separated from its parents during an attack by the ferocious tiger Shere Khan. Adopted by a wolf pack and named Mowgli, the child is raised in the ways of the jungle. Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther help to educate the man cub, but to other animals, such as the lawless, treacherous Monkey-People, he is a prized target.
